1. NATURAL PLAYGROUND & PARK DESIGN

This hour-long, lunch and learn presentation is intended to help educate Landscape Architects and other design professionals about the basic concepts and principals involved in designing natural playgrounds and parks. Discussion topics include: site selection, incorporating natural terrain features, reclaiming natural materials, equipment selection, common design mistakes, and surfacing options. There will be time for general audience questions as well.

SESSION GOALS

  • Become familiar with the various types of natural playgrounds
  • Become familiar with the basic concepts and principals of natural playground design
  • Become familiar with the various types of play equipment materials and the benefits/drawbacks of those materials
  • Become familiar with common surfacing types and the reasons they are used

2. FULLY CUSTOMIZED PLAYGROUND STRUCTURES

This hour-long, lunch and learn presentation is intended to help educate Landscape Architects and other design professionals about the basic concepts and principals involved in designing fully customized playground structures. Discussion topics include: site selection, incorporating natural topography, selecting materials & features, common design mistakes, and surfacing options. At the end of the session, there will be time for general audience questions as well.

Become knowledgeable about:

  • The various types of custom playgrounds
  • The basic concepts and principals of custom playground design
  • The various types of play equipment materials and the benefits/drawbacks of those materials
  • Common surfacing types and the reasons they are used

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

The guest presenter for the session will be Midwest Playscapes’ owner and operator; Bruce Pudwill. With more than 20 years experience designing and building commercial playgrounds, as well as CPSI and RISC designations, Bruce is one of the leading authorities on playground and park design and construction in the Midwest.
